Hydro / Soil

Grows well in hydroponics (with carefully managed nutrients) or in the soil – especially in self-watering planters.

Plant 1 site in an 8" (1 gal) container. In larger containers, space sites 8" apart. For each site plant 2 seeds 1/4" deep.

Outdoor / Inground

Plant 1 site per square foot. For each site, plant 2 seeds 1/4" deep. Thin to one plant per site once seedlings are ~1in tall.

Plant Size

Height is variable. These plants should be spaced 1-2 feet apart.

Taste & Nutritional Value

Perfect balance of tart, sweet, and tangy. Tomatoes contain the antioxidant lycopene which reduces heart disease and cancer and have vitamin C, potassium, folate and vitamin K.

History

While Bobcat Beefsteak Tomatoes are a newer variety, the tomato dates back to early Aztecs in 700 A.D. Despite many of the tomatoes claims to fame (i.e. pasta and pizza), it actually is believed to have originated in the Americas.
