History
Cherry tomatoes date back to the Aztecs in Mexico, in at least the 15th century CE. Records of Santorini Cherry Tomatoes being heavily cultivated in Greece are found as early as 1875 from seeds brought there by a monk in the early 1800’s. Locals believed that seeds were imported from Egypt. The fruit has been popular in the U.S. since the early 1900’s. Recipes using cherry tomatoes can be found in cookbooks from the U.S. dating back to 1967.

Cherry tomatoes are delicious for snacking, in salads, and on pizzas. Try sauteeing them with olive oil and garlic and adding them to pasta with fresh mozzarella.
