Pink Oyster Mushroom Growing Kit

Rating: 4.78 out of 5 (9)

Pink oyster mushrooms aren’t just strikingly beautiful. They are also succulent and savory and are perfect sautéed or added to pastas, pizzas, and more. As a tropical oyster mushroom strain, they thrive with higher humidity and their color intensifies if given adequate indirect sunlight. Given their denser texture, pink oysters make a wonderful meat substitute. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can find recipes that use them in everything from burritos to BBQ sandwiches. They even make amazing vegan bacon, too!

These 'Spray & Grow' kits are beginner-friendly, require no additional equipment, and will have you enjoying fresh home-grown mushrooms in roughly 2 weeks.

Inside your Spray & Grow Kit is a living organism, so we recommend activating it upon receipt. If you need to wait, you can store them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight or in the fridge for around 2-3 months.

Note: Pick Oyster mushrooms don't tolerate temperatures below 40 degrees F, so skip the fridge with these and instead opt for something else like a cellar, pantry, or cool porch tucked away from the sun.

No. These kits are designed to stay inside the box.

After removing the front panel of the box along the perforated lines, cut an X into the exposed plastic. Enough oxygen gets to the block through this cut and it directs the mushrooms to form there.

Remember to leave the plastic flaps of the X on the bag, they'll help to keep moisture in. The mushrooms will easily grow out of the sliced X section, so no need to open it up more as they fruit.

You don’t need to empty the bottle each time you spray, but it is important to get the area where you cut open the bag nice and damp! Try 5-10 sprays each time. It can take a little trial and error to get the frequency and amount just right.0

If the surface of the block seems very dry the next time you spray it, you should give it a bit more water or water a bit more often. If you run AC or live in an arid climate, using a humidity tent can be useful to prevent your block from drying out.

Chances are, that's not mold - it's mycelium! Your kit includes an amended sawdust block with mushroom mycelium growing through it. The block may appear covered with a soft, white, mold-like substance.

That's the mushroom mycelium, and it's totally normal and healthy for your mushroom block. The mycelium of some species is more prominent than others. For example, lion's mane mycelium tends to be finer and more difficult to see while oysters can develop into a very thick and leathery mat. If you are still unsure about what's growing on your kit, reach out to us with a photo and we will help you identify what's going on.

If your kit has black, green, or orange patches it's possible your kit was damaged in transit and has mold. Reach out to us with a photo and we'll make it right.

Best mushrooms ever!

I purchased my spray and grow kit from a local grocery store. As a chef, I’m always looking for sustainable products to cook for my family. The kit was super easy to use and it produced about a 1/2 pound of beautiful mushrooms on the first growth period! I love how easy it is to grow them, as long as you follow the directions. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. I will definitely be interested in purchasing again! Here are some of the photos of my mushrooms and the dish that I created using my Northspore mushroom kit.

Love These Kits!!!!

I bought 2 kits last year October/November and totally forgot about them. Last Sunday I pulled them out and started to spray them. I wasn’t expecting any blooms because it had been sitting for several months and figured the cultures were dead. But my oh my did they bloom 🥹

Pink Oysters in the Desert

Given I live in the desert, after watching your "Spray & Grow Kits FAQ Video Part 1" and a previous (fairly good) attempt at Spray & Grow Lion's Mane, I jumped to a make-shift humidity tent right away...and had my first flush in < 2 wks from cutting open. Then my 2nd flush in < 1 more wk...and now crossing fingers for a third.

My Spray & Grow box is next to my kitchen sink, above dishwasher...and my humidity tent is simply a flimsy plastic bag from produce section of the grocery store, with holes cut in it for air flow. I have the Spray & Grow box in a long plastic storage container, w/ the container's lid on top of the box and the plastic bag over the lid. The lid provides support for the bag and keeps it from being too close to the front of the box. Works great and when the box is done, I can just wash my container and put it extra equipment hanging around😁 -Kathy in AZ
