Product

This parsley has a delicate, sweet flavor as the description says, almost slightly anise-y, to the degree that it doesn't really taste like what I think of as normal culinary parsley. That said it's a really nice, fresh, palatable flavor and I use it a lot. I have found that it needs to be harvested pretty aggressively in order to stay healthy; it grows very vigorously and gets really sad looking when it's stems are overcrowded. It was easy to grow in 4" pots in my kitchen, and did well with being bottom-watered.

History

Parsley has been around for ages. According to legend, Parsley came up where the blood of the Greek hero Archemorus was spilled when he was eaten by Serpents. In Greece, it was used in fashion wreath for graves. It was also used to deodorize corpses. The Greeks also used it to bestow upon the winners of sports games. Parsley is used in the Hebrew Celebration of passover to symbolize spring and rebirth. In Medieval Times, it was believed that Parsley had to travel back and forth to hell before it sprouted, making superstitious farmers refuse to plant it.

Recommended For (Recipes)

Parsley is a universal herb- put chopped parsley this in all your soups, salads, and pastas, and sauces. Try using it to make fresh Italian gremolata to add to chicken or fish. Tip- add this to your dog food to freshen your pup's breath!
